November’s State of the Blog

I just finished week 6 of grad school, which means there’s only a month left in the term. Wow. It’s kind of hard to wrap my head around that. Something else that’s hard to believe: I’ve been posting on this blog for two months. That might be longer than any of my previous blogs, which is sad because it really isn’t that long, but awesome because it means I’ve been doing something right. Here’s a secret: I have ideas for blog posts to run all the way through December. I’m not giving up on this blog any time soon.

Since my last State of the Blog post, I dropped my commitment to daily workouts but made a new commitment to writing every day—which turned into me kinda-sorta signing up for National Novel Writing Month. I didn’t think I would. But I’ve been writing a new book project for the past three days, and have an outline, and characters, and I’m just going to roll with it and it’ll be great.

With that in mind, here are some blog posts I’d like to publish this month:

Writing Discussions

  • Three weeks of writing daily
  • Ebooks vs. Pbooks
  • Some simple writing prompts

Book Reviews

  • Ooligan Title #1 (possibly Siblings and Other Disappointments)
  • Mistborn
  • City of Weird

Rambles

  • The new Amazon Books store
  • Cats and dogs
  • Portland in the fall
  • NaNoWriMo

So that’s that. I’ll do my best to post these throughout the month (I already have the Amazon Books and the three weeks of writing posts planned for next week), but chances are I won’t be able to write all of these. If you want to check in with my NaNo progress or remind me to focus on my blog, feel free to leave a comment here or reach out to me on Twitter (@fictionlass, which should be in the sidebar to the right).

It’s also worth mentioning that I’m always on the lookout for new blogs to follow, especially ones hosted by book reviewers, writers, or publishers. If you’ve encountered any awesome blogs lately (or happen to run one yourself), let me know. Thanks!

Michele
